Positive Product Points
It is a very high quality commercial grade unit that is the most compact on the market for its features. It is good looking. All Polished Stainless and can be self maintenace with some guidance from Illy technicians. Fits easily under the counter. Can be used with either pods or the optional ground coffee filter kit...an additonal $200.
Negative Product Points
It is expensive,.....around $1200 to $1500. It is a very high quality commercial grade unit that is the smallest on the market for its features. As far as I know, Illy is the major and only distributor of this machine which means little or no discounts.
Detailed Commentary
There are 2 Pony's. One is the originial still being produced and the other is the "T" model which is a less expensive unit. Do not buy the "T". Only buy the original because it has 2 boilers. The "T" model uses a single boiler with a thermal anti siphon system. These units are less expensive to manufacture and when repair time comes, repairs will come more often with the "T". The machine is a workhorse and can be used with either pods or the optional ground coffee filter kit...an additonal $200. The original Pony is low maintenance. However, the machine is worth repairing whenever it breaks down. The quality of the machine and the advance technology, allows it to be owned for years without upgrading.
