Positive Product Points

Nice looking machine. Easy to use, a challenge to master. Direct plumb option a +. Heavy and sturdy. Stay-cool steam nozzle is awesome! Lots of Hot water from the dispenser. Good quality, ships with professional portafilters.

Negative Product Points

Water reservoir empties quickly the way i use hot water (No longer a problem with the machine plumber in). Water fill hole is only usable as a place to grab the top. Filling the reservoir with it is not an option. Visible reservoir level would be nice. Drip tray fills quickly. **Followup** The drip tray filling is still an issue, even moreso now that the machine is plumbed. A drainable drip tray mod from the factory on future models would be welcomed.

Detailed Commentary

This is a great machine. Granted, I've never had anything better than a steam driven 1990 krups to compare it to, but it doesn't look like I'll need to upgrade it anytime soon. This is a work of art, and the parts are professional grade. The first shot I pulled was one of the finest I'd had up to that point, and they've only gotten better. The stainless look is clean. The filler hole in the top is really too small to be of any use. You have to remove the top to add water unless you get the direct plumb option which i plan to do soon. This doesn't cure the size of the drip tray, which is decidedly large by camparitive standards in this class of machine, but the way i use it it fills quickly. I still have a lot to learn to get the most out of this machine and I think that's the best thing about it. It's easy enough to use to pull great shots from the start, but you have the tools and quality to refine your technique and achieve superb results as time goes on.

Buying Experience

Chris' Coffee is the place, hands down! I made the mistake of ordering an Isomac from 1st line at first, but luckily, my credit card had just expired. I canceled the order after reading coffeegeek's praise of Chris and called him immedeately. He took the time to talk to me personally and explain the trouble with Isomac and why the andreja was superior and I feel great to have bought from a small businessman that takes pride in his work and product. The packaging was excellent, and the shipping was prompt, oh and FREE! **Followup** Adding to the professionalism of Chris' Coffee, I recently got an email from Mary @ chriscoffee asking how my machine was working out. I told her about the brew pressure guage and she's sending one out Gratis!  Previous exclamaitions that Chris Coffee is a class act are well deserved and again emphasized.

Three Month Followup

I'm still loving the Andreja Premium. I plumbed it in recently and not having to pourover is a big plus. There is a minor manufacturer's defect with the brew pressure gauge, but Mary and chriscoffee is sending me out a new coil to address this at no charge. The machine does well on a timer, and produces tons of steam on demand. I'm mostly using a ridgeless double La Marzocco PF and loving it. The teeth on the PF are a bit thick, but I hear you can grind them down with a dremel and get better results. One gripe would be the configuration/location of the drip tray. When I'm doing my cool-down-flush, the spouts on the PF are located in such a way that the piping hot water spurts out over the edge of the drip tray and gets on the counter, but only for the first few seconds of boiling water, and then it cools down enough to come out in a stream and into the drip tray below. I'm considering turning the spouts to the rear of the PF to resolve this, but I'm not sure if they will stay when unscrewed a half turn.

Overall I'm still very pleased with this machine at the six month mark.

One Year Followup

Two+ years later, I'm still using the Andreja almost every day. There have been a few minor problems with it. The copper brew pressure line was too long or wide or something and it was causing the gauge to be innaccurate. That was fixed with a rather frustrating procedure of nearly completely disassembling my machine to replace the line. The plumb in kit is nice. I still highly recommend it. The swing arm for the brew switch is leaking, but chris assures me that it can be repaired with some new parts.

Still a great machine for the money. It works as well as the day i bought it.
