Negative Product Points
- The on/off switch is marked with a silly little peel off sticker. - Wish there was such a thing as a semi-automatic E61 heat exchanger machine that didn't take 30-minutes or so to heat up. This isn't really a negative about the Vetrano, because I suspect it doesn't takes any longer to heat up than any other like machine. It's more of a commentary about my impatience and need of coffee when I forget to turn it on before we go to bed!
Detailed Commentary
This is a beautiful machine and it's packed with more features than I'll remember to mention here.
The stainless steel finish and E61 brew group make it an extremely attractive piece of functional art. I get a lot of comments about this machine from folks who come over to the house. In addition, the rotary pump is extremely quiet. This is important because my wife and I have a 19-month old daughter and one on the way. Don't want her (them) waking up at 5:30AM if it isn't necessary!
I love the fact that this is a plummed in machine. It's so nice to just flip up the lever and not worry about filling a boiler with water first...or running out of water in mid use.
Even though I'm a complete novice and honestly don't deserve a machine like this with my meager skills, it is extremely consistent and forgiving. I'm actually able to pull consistently good shots of espresso from it, which I contribute to the quality of the machine, not my abilities. My only other experience in espresso machines was the $65USD Krupps steam machine my wife bought me 8-years ago for Christmas. The Vetrano is quite a step up!
The fit and finish are excellent. It's easy to take apart if need be and easy to clean up after you're done using it. It heats up quietly, pumps quietly, and all components are solid and tight. I really love this machine and wouldn't give it up for anything.
Buying Experience
I submitted a querry to Chris' Coffee one afternoon and Chris Nachtrieb called me that night. He spent a good 30-minutes with me going over all of the positives and negatives of his different lines. I settled on the first run of Vetranos out the door. Chris and his staff are exceptional to work with and I am extremely pleased with the level of customer service I received from them. I have no doubt that if I am ever in the market for another machine, I'll go to Chris' Coffee first.
