Bottom Line: Direct plumbing and rotary pump were the way to go!  Chris's service was outstanding!!
Positive Product Points

Given some of the reviews I'd read I was worried about the milk frothing but that turned out to be no problem.  After working in my own espresso shop for two years I was used to great foam and this machine gave me the same.  Along with the Rancilio grinder I've extracted super shots and the machine looks great.

Negative Product Points

It was too tall for my cupboards so I cut out a section to allow it to fit and it was worth it.  The tray is a bit short but when doing the "jiggle" during the rinse I just pull it out a bit and push it back in for the rest of the operations.

Detailed Commentary

I've owned an espresso shop for a couple of years and, while realizing there's always more to learn, know what I like in shots and drinks.  This machine puts out great shots with the right grinder.  Catching on to the temperature surfing was easy and steam generation is more than sufficient to create great micro-foam.

Years back I owned a poor Krups psuedo espresso machine.  My next experience was on the job learning in my own business with a three-group commercial machine.  When shopping for my home my search started with the Silvia and progressed up from there.  The rotary pump is quiet and once I knew that's what I wanted the decision was made.  I direct plumbed my machine (required if I remember correctly) and am thankful I went this route.

Buying Experience

Quick shipment and when I called for a bit of help on the direct connect plumbing they gave easy to follow instructions.  Even though I could have saved a dollar or two elsewhere with a few add-ons to the purchase, I'm glad I went with Chris's.
