a great machine for the beginner. Better than decent shots.
Positive Product Points
no crema enhancing devices, easy operation and cleanup. Will produce a good shot of espresso with a little practice.
Negative Product Points
none for a product of this price range.
Detailed Commentary
I have been roasting my own coffee beans for years but had never ventured into espresso due to cost. Found this machine first at Amazon.com for $29.99 (refurb) but they were sold out. Found one at overstock.com for $39.99 and decided to go for it. Though I cannot compare it to machines costing more, it produces a very satisfactory espresso with decent crema. The grinder I am currently using (La Pavoni PA) appears to grind fine enough for the Gusto, which may be a negative against the machine, but the end product sure beats most of the local coffee houses around here (probably due to the fresh beans). I highly recommend this machine to a beginner who would first like to practice their espresso making skills before buying a more expensive machine and grinder.
