The tamper that comes with the machine is worthless. I did not like filter basket and replaced it with a La Marzocco basket.
Detailed Commentary
The Silvia has a steep learning curve and is less forgiving than machines like Starbuck‘s Barista. Once you have the right grind/tamp you will experience the best espresso ever! I had much better luck obtaining a good pour once I replaced the filter basket and used a quality tamper (Reg Barber).
I did a lot of research prior to buying the Silvia. I am extremely happy with my purchase
