+ Love the design + Great espresso + Plenty of steam
Negative Product Points
- Not managed to get dry pucks, suppose it is because of the 3-way solenoid - Not very hot cup heater, have increased heat by putting a kitchen linen towel ontop of my cups - Not being able to steam and brew at the same time
Detailed Commentary
I bought this in a bundle with the Mazzer Mini and i must say that i am very pleased with the machines. I have been reading a lot and i thought that i would buy the Silvia as a first machine since it has so many avid users and good support with spare parts etc.
I went through about a pound of beans to get the grinding right, but since i got i set i hardly ever make a bad espresso although i am completely new to the game. I have read a bit about temp surfing, the golden rule and such which probably helps me getting it right. Rich beautifully redish crema every time using beans from Caffee Mauro.
If i had some more money i would have gone for an ECM or Isomac with more possibilites regarding temperature stability and "multitasking".
I havn't yet mastered the milkfrothing, but i feel its not to far away. Bought a thermometer which really has been an aid for me.
Buying Experience
Very good. ALRp has been in the business for 20 years and have extensive knowledge in repairing and selling espresso and other machines. Took about a week to get the mazzer in stock and i went there to pick it up and got some good advice as i was there about using the machines. Also they had made a Swedish manual for the silvia which i think some people would appreciate.
