A true benchmark machine, this machine made Rancilio a lot of money since it was introduced in 1998 - it has become the standard against which all other consumer, single boiler machines are measured against. Currently in its 3rd revision.
Chris Clark (quality: 9.1)
Bottom Line: The Silvia is about patience and practice. If you have both in store, you're ready to go.
Ed Lawless (quality: 9.0)
Bottom Line: Almost a brilliant machine - but what a major potiential weakness!! Buy it, but haggle hard as it is not quite as indestructable as the glossy brochures would have you believe.
Joe DP (quality: 8.9)
Bottom Line: Best home espresso machine in its class with “legendary” status and capable of providing quality espresso to rival machines costing 2x as much.
Dave Borton (quality: 8.7)
Bottom Line: One or two 'spressos a day? Look no further, say, "a Silvia please."
Eric Larson (quality: 8.6)
Bottom Line: An excellent choice for the do-it-yourself crowd. Takes some learning, but the results are worth it.
Gregory Scace (quality: 8.4)
Bottom Line: Probably the best single boiler machine on the market. And it's a helluva deal in the US.
Samurai K (quality: 8.3)
Bottom Line: Silvia is finicky so technique is very important. Get a PID to make you and her happy.
Dave S. (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: The PID temperature controller brings out the Silvia's full potential
Benjamin Fournier (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: Excellent first espresso machine for the home. Highly superior value to lower end machines, well worth the step up. Exceptional resale value if later upgrade desired.
Bruce Evans (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: For light duty, with the PID modification and consistent technique, the Silvia is a great performer and a great value!
Steve Cairns (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: A superb machine for the money. For those willing to spend time to get to know this equipment, they will be rewarded with wonderful espresso shots and espresso based drinks.
Ronald Fischer (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: Makes great espresso, slowly.
Toto Di Torretta (quality: 8.0)
Bottom Line: WARNING: It may not get better than Silvia (in the USD 400 category).
Dan Kehn (quality: 7.9)
Bottom Line: Silvia is the great performer, but if you do a lot of successive milk-based drinks, consider an HX machine
Chris Wood (quality: 7.8)
Bottom Line: Silvia is a terrific home machine for the beginner or the experienced home-barista.
Bartholomew Bono (quality: 7.7)
Bottom Line: You could spend more, but I don't think you could make better espresso.
Matthew Adams (quality: 7.7)
Bottom Line: A very capable domestic machine that will no doubt exceed expectations on all fronts.
Jason Spinak (quality: 7.6)
Bottom Line: Your first big step towards the elusive quality of espresso perfection
James Park (quality: 7.6)
Bottom Line: Smooth, deep, rich, highly complex flavor and aroma. Visually intricate and lasting crema. Elegant industrial design. Silvia is a daily oracle of delight.
Silviu Chitoiu (quality: 7.5)
Bottom Line: It's worth every penny
