Quite frankly, I think this machine is a piece of junk. Mine didn't work out of the box - it turned out that a particular plug inside the unit got unhooked during shipping. The manufacturer was aware of the problem -- they even provided me with a handy sheet on how to fix it -- yet they apparently still make units which have the problem.
Once this problem was solved, the machine made perfectly acceptable espresso -- for about three months.
At that point another electronic glitch appeared. If I turn the machine on in froth mode, it won't switch to espresso. To make matters worse, one has to wait for about an hour for the electronics to reset -- so if a guest turns the machine on in the wrong way, there will be no espresso for anyone for at least an hour.
Now when I turn the unit on water leaks everywhere.
Finally, the machine just looks cheap with its plastic construction.
This is quite simply the worst kitchen appliance I've ever owned. If you think you're getting "swiss made realiability" with the Solis, think again: you are getting a piece of trash.
