If you want a really hot cup of coffee -- not expresso, you must first use the steam wand to run hot water into your cup, then use the expresso shot. Otherwise, you will get a very lukewarm cup of coffee.
Detailed Commentary
I love everything about this machine except the coffee temperature which is lukewarm. I often want a cup of coffee, not a shot of expresso. It is sturdy and has always looked good in my kitchen. Sometimes the pump jammed and needed to be primed and the instructions in the booklet were not well written. It took me quite awhile to figure out how to properly prime the machine when the pump stopped pumping. Overall, this machine performed better than the Krups expresso maker that was given to me as a gift. I gave the Krups away as it simply would not froth the milk at all. I wish the coffee temperature would be hotter, but if you use the steam wand for some hot water first, there is more satisfaction.
