Well where do I start...
Okay, at the coffee - by far for the price, this would have to be the BEST machine at pulling a perfect shot of coffee without fail, I've just been in love with this side of the experience. However the dark clouds roll over at this point, as I've been extremely unlucky with this Model (EM6900) and lately with the new Model (EM6910). The steaming arm just can't keep up, it's the one thing that lets this machine down over and over and over again, it's simply not good enough.
First machine I owned for 6 months without an issue, then the steaming arm was shooting water and less steam into my milk until I just simply could no longer texture any milk, it would be hot and just no foam AT ALL. I tried different milk, pitchers, techniques, with no luck. So back it went to Sunbeam, away for 2 months, I receive my fixed unit back... it lasts for 1 month and the same issues begin again, bad bad texture (or lack of).
So the machine goes away again, gets replaced after 1 month with another EM6900 (brand new), worked perfectly for 10 months and this time no steam at all out of the steaming arm. Back it went to the service centre and they class it as un-repairable, so I get a new EM6910 after 2 months. Now my confidence was shot but I had heard all of the bugs were ironed out in the new model, so I relaxed and made GREAT GREAT coffee again for another 8 months, it has the same texturing issues. So back it goes to the service centre, it's away for 2 months and I've just received it back and spent a weekend with warm/hot milk and no froth... it's just bad at this point, it's spitting lots of water and very little steam into the milk, killing my chances.
So I'll be on the phone to Sunbeam again tomorrow... by the way, their Customer Service have been awesome, collected & returned the unit each time by courier, however it's the bad experience with this machine that continues to roll past my eyes. I will be without my machine again for who knows how long and have no idea what to do from here...
Would I recommend this machine to anyone??? absolutely NOT, this has been one of the worst quality purchases EVER and the hardest part to handle is that it pulls great shots of coffee, it just doesn't hold up as a complete unit. |
