Nice looking, small foot print, very fast machine that generates a luke warm cup of coffee. You'd be better off using the purchase price to buy Nescafe.
Positive Product Points
It has a small footprint and uses Melita filters--my two 'musts.' It is fast, much faster than the Krups coffee/expresso it replaced.
Negative Product Points
Speed replaced heat. It brews at less than 150 degrees. Not hot enough to bring out the full flavor of the bean.
Detailed Commentary
I contacted B&D, a tedious process, only to be notified that for the past 7 or so years they do not produce B&D home appliances. I emailed the current manufacturer, Applica, asking if the low temps was an anomaly or a designed feature--a la McDonald’s scalding history. Silence from them but it is Christmas/New Years.
The unit is listed at 975 watt, perhaps 150 is all it can produce. I’d like to find information that lists the brewing temperatures with specific models/manufacturers, or the potential temperature with listed wattage. What is needed is a coffee maker that uses Melita filters, has a small footprint, and brews at no lower than 200 degrees.
Buying Experience
I bought at Kohl's, what can I say. Purchase experience was as expected--uneventful. Obtaining information from the manufacturer has been unsuccessful. Years ago I swore off purchasing Black and Decker power tools, I should have extended my decision to B&D home appliances, I have now!
