given that the water temp. in the grinds is 195 and brew time is around five minutes it's close to the standards set by the scaa. i don't know about the quality of saturation of the coffee grinds. i like the taste of the coffee it makes. i have tried manual drip and there is a slight difference in taste. but for an auto drip i think your trading convenience for some quality in taste it comes with a strength selector but i have not seen any difference in the taste of the coffee using this of course the programmable option is not reccommended unless you want stale coffee in the morning i would stay with the white colored model as you can easily see the grim that has to be cleaned
