Good looking, and makes tasty coffee. Wish it didn't break after a year.
Positive Product Points
Thermal carafe kept coffee hot for 4-6 hours Easy to use Coffee tasted pretty good Coffee poured out of carafe easily Plastic pieces didn't pick up so much rancid coffee smell Excellent valve on the pause-n-serve; never dripped Relatively wide base (low CG) on carafe meant it didn't tip over easily "Firm," but not "sturdy" construction Wide carafe mouth means easy cleaning
Negative Product Points
Coffee poured out of carafe easily... not good if you accidentally tip it over Only lasted about a year No plug if you didn't want to use the included water filter Lip on inside of carafe mouth means it's almost impossible to get all the liquid out; there will always be a few drips left
Detailed Commentary
About a year ago the Cuisinart coffee machine I had had for three years bit the dust. I would turn on the power switch and... nothing. After looking around for a suitable substitute, I happened across this Braun at BB&B. I had always heard Braun & Krups were the best, so I chose this one.
I was very happy with the coffee this machine made... for about a year. Just the other day I was making coffee to take with me to work, as I do every day. I turned the switch on and... nothing! Justl ike the Cuisinart. And of course like the Cuisinart this Braun has some bizarre proprietary head on the screws holding it together, making it impossible to disassemble for inspection/repair.
Anyway, I didn't notice any inconsistancy with this machine when making pots of various sizes, although to be sure I mainly brewed 7-9 cup pots.
