This big machine looks commercial at home - I like its uglyness. I like its simplicity. The water temperature does seem higher than others I've had. The hot plate is about the right temp.
Negative Product Points
Coffee tastes raw - not brewed long enough; see comments. I think this machine is best used for brewing 10 cups with a generous amount of coffee; see comments.
Detailed Commentary
This machine says 4 cups minimum - I disagree if standard grind canned drip coffee is used. With Bunn filter (re: everything per instructions), I recommend no less than 8 cups to taste good (at sea level). This machine just runs the water through so quick - and I also tried the optional decaf head. Heed WARNING about this machine using alot of ground coffee - its necessary to almost double the amount of coffee to water than I'm accustomed to with cone filter machines. This machine would be good at work repeating 10 cups all day and is capable of making great tasting coffee. ----------------------------------------- I solved the problem of having to use so much coffee! I had a gold cone filter that fits in the Bunn filter basket; the gold cone sits in the Bunn basket flush at the top. The cone isn't as wide as the Bunn basket, so I drilled four holes in the plastic rim of the gold cone and inserted bamboo skewers through the holes. The skewers cross in the center and are cut to length. The gold cone sits centered and upright within the Bunn basket. Drill hole size so that skewers are tight going through the holes. Now I use somewhat less coffee, but the real benny is that six cups or less tastes much better!
Buying Experience
Sears - Bunn was on sale, 10% off. My local Sears also carries Bunn filters, caraf, basket.
