Detailed Commentary
Finally a single serve coffee maker at a reasonable price that doesn't create plastic ecological waste. This brewer uses coffee pods, which is coffee in its own little filter disc that is just put into the brewer pod holder. Hot water, at the perfect brewing temperature (near 200 degrees F) is forced through the pod and directly into your coffee cup. When finished you just remove the pod holder and flip the spent pod into the trash. No effort at all! You need to add water each time you make a cup, but that is actually water for the next cup because it keeps the about to be used water at temperature, so there is no waiting for water to heat, and your entire process takes about 30 seconds. Even if you can't find the pods in grocery stores there is a very good variety offered online at either merchants dealing with coffee supplies or Amazon. The amount of water you add is what comes out, so you can adjust your brew strength just by adjusting the volume of water used for each cup, anywhere from four to 14 oz. I have found some particularly good pods made by Wolfgang Puck and the Marley Coffee Company in addition to others. Because it has an always supply of hot water for the next cup it is easy to use to just dispense hot water for tea also. I have put my traditional tea pot in the closet and probably will never need to use it again because there is no point in waiting for water to boil when all I have to do is let the Bunn My Cafe dispense the hot water immediately. Tea pods are also sold for the brewer, but I just use regular tea bags that I drop in my cup instead of buying the actual tea pods. I have had this brewer now for about two weeks and I am VERY impressed with how well it works, in addition to taking up very little counter space. It feels solid in construction, and the aesthetics are very nice with an easy to wipe down chrome front.
