Detailed Commentary
Before I bought my Bunn I did all of the research and found out about the "to quick brew times and over flowing". I learned that by blocking two of the five holes in the spray-head I could slow down the brew time.
So I went ahead and bought the machine from Macy's. I knew I was going to modify the spray head so I ordered a new one from Bunn in case I screwed-up the first one. I also ordered a restrictor head just for fun. Two days later I received the spray heads free of charge. Impressed!
After blocking the two holes , I started doing all of those thing us coffee geeks love to do...adjust the grind, tweak the amount coffee, ect. I really began to love this thing when I tried lifting the lid after about one minute into the brew! I Lift the lid, the water from the spray head stop flowing, I slide out the filter basket together with the carafe and stir the grounds a little. Technivorm tweaking at about half the price! I probably don't have to do all of that to get great coffee out of this thing but after all , I am a coffee geek!!
I am sad to say that after three years of problem free service my Bunn died! I couldn't remember when I bought the machine but I thought it was out of warranty so I opened her up to see if I could fix her! I discovered that a thermostat on top of the boiler was bad so I tried to find the part online. After not finding the part, I called Bunn to see if they had it. I was informed by a very pleasant woman named Anne that they couldn't ship electrical parts through the mail but my machine was still under warranty and she would be happy to send me a new one. Wow! I didn't expect that!
In a time where customer service is rare, it's refreshing to see a company stands behind their products and make their customers feel appreciated.
