Detailed Commentary
I bought this coffee maker with some friends of mine rather impulsively. We were immediately drawn too it simply because of the appearance of the device with its simple yet elegant style. As soon as I came home with the Chemex coffee maker I immediately tried it man, I’m going to trust my instinct more often. The brew that makes is really different from that of my French Press. Compared to the full bodied, gritty texture of my French press the Chemex produces a clean, sharp kind of flavor that I absolutely love. The large capacity of the Chemex gives me the ability to make quality coffee for many people at once compared to the single cup drip filters that I’ve seen. Cleaning however can be a bit of a hassle as holding the Chemex can be quite awkward with the wooden waist and I don’t want to risk damaging the wood or rawhide with water which makes for quite a show when I do clean it. Besides that one little problem however, the Chemex is an incredible piece
Buying Experience
Williams-Sonoma is the only store that carries the Chemex and its filters. Needless to say, the were quite awkward dealing with an 18 year old male walking into their store and purchasing something. They even asked me if I wanted a gift receipt because they thought I must be gifting it to someone. Despite that, purchase was simple and fast and I soon was walking out with a Chemex and 100 filters.
