Jon Burman stated on his website "this is how we make are coffee around here" so I bought one and would not consider anything else. Very portable.Inexpensive! I added a electric kettle after 4 fours years of heating the water in a stainless saucepan.
Negative Product Points
Only negative point is you have to stay with it making sure grounds don't go dry. Can't push a button go get dressed and come back to a pot of coffee.
Detailed Commentary
Since I'm the only coffee drinker and a early riser I first:
Fill Capresso electric kettle with distilled or purified water-start.
Rinse Chemex and place Chemex filter in.
Grind beans and empty in filter.
Let now boiling water set for a minute or so.
Wet the grinds and let them bloom, rewet for a second bloom.
Fill to top of chemex and keep grinds floating.
Can hardly wait for it to finish dripping!
Usually in between pour overs I'll go get ready for the day looking for socks, shoes, combing hair, etc.
i usually pour one cup and 20 oz. in a mug for work.
There is usually one small cup left in the Chemex that i save and drink in the evening cold.Yes cold Mmm Can't wait for morning again! I love coffee Hot! Warm! Lukewarm! Cold!
