Positive Product Points

I am pleased to submit that this product  has been brewing several cups of coffee HOT with a full bodied taste.  I was not sure I wanted to pay the price listed but then again, there is that saying that MOST of the time you get what you pay for (especially when high cost is involved).  I like the ease of use and the simplicity of being able to set the clock for coffee when we awake.  Best of all - the coffee is hot every time.  I was leary about buying after reading the negative comments but then again you have to base it on your own experience with products nowadays.  They certainly don't make products like they use to - when name brands used to carry alot of weight.  Anyways, if you are looking for an attractive coffee maker that makes a good HOT cup of coffee with a full bodied taste - this is one that fits the bill ($100 dollar bill that is).

Negative Product Points

I would prefer the lid  be made to rotate to the side to avoid the condensation from dripping back into the water chamber.  I like the idea of the coffee filter but then it worries me (just the way I am - I think alot) about a damp charcoal filter sitting in the water chamber.  I wished there was a chamber or compartment that would filter the water through it (like the filters that twist on the faucets) but not sit down in the chamber.

Detailed Commentary

The product does what its described to do.  I like the fact you can have a choice in the hot plate settings as well as timer on keeping it hot.   This is great for entertaining.   I think the appearance is very retro and the size of the equipment is a bit larger than I would have wanted but it still works well on my countertop.

The true test will be to see if the product over a longer period of time delivers the quality of coffee and temperature of coffee.  I do know from my experience (although limited compared to some) has shown me that: 1) good clean and cold fresh water makes a difference in the cup, 2) the quality of beans and coffee, 3) the quality of equipment used to make the coffee.  I personally prefer fresh ground over store-bought pre-ground coffee.  All of the above with this machine has yielded me a superb cup thus far.  I will keep you posted if that changes and when it does.

Buying Experience

I purchased this on the whim at Lowes.  I didn't expect them to have a large variety of coffee makers (despite my need for a new one at the time I purchased it).  The price was a bit high I thought but then the name brand has been very good for me in the past with producing a quality product.  I had purchased on the same day the DeLonghi coffee grinder and was sadly dissappointed that the motor burned out after only grounding the first 4 ounces of coffee.  I returned it and opted for a Kitchen Aid (stronger horsepowered machine) instead.

Three Month Followup

Wonderfully surprised its still going strong!  We are daily coffee drinkers and this machine really has impressed me.  I have changed the charcoal filters as suggested and the coffee is still fresh tasting and HOT.  Usually, machines that have alot of bells and whistles tend to start fading out performance wise at this stage.  I am glad I invested the extra few bucks (normally wouldnt pay that much for a coffee maker) to get this one.

On a side note, I have noticed in many movies where screen shots of this machine is in the background.  Wonder if its a correlation to the product's performance and name?
