This brewer is not worth the $100.00 price tag, especially when you have to use more coffee!
Positive Product Points
Looks good, that's about it.
Negative Product Points
Coffee gounds end up in the water tank. Very difficult to clean. Coffee is hot, but weak.
Detailed Commentary
I guess I am used to the coffee brewed by my little 4 cup Melitta, because this machine did not impress me at all. We bought the machine on Saturday, made coffee Sunday morning, and returned it the same day. First of all, as another reviewer mentioned, if you roast your own coffee you will find coffee grounds in the water tank. The only way around this is to make less coffee, and this should not be necessary. Any coffee maker with one lid for the filter holder and water tank is going to pose a problem for the home roaster. It took me a half hour to clean this machine to prepare it for return to the store. I am not about to do this every morning. Even though it had it's problems, my old KitchenAid brewer made a full 12 cups of flavorful coffee, and there were never any grounds in the water tank. The Cuisinart does make hot coffee, but it was very weak even with the gold filter. Using the KitchenAid I could make a fairly strong 10 cup pot using 12 scoops; using this same amount of coffee and water with the Cuisinart resulted in a very weak brew. I will not keep a brewer that takes more coffee to make a decent cup, instead I took the plunge and ordered the Technivorm Clubline.
Buying Experience
Bought at Macy's. Noone there knew anything about the brewing equipment.
