I loved my Cuisinart 1200 until five days ago, when suddenly it started to make a loud popping sound. Then acrid, black smoke started to come from the base, filling my kitchen with the smell of burning plastic. Thankfully, I was standing there when it happened and I was able to throw it in the sink. I've researched other sites, and my situation is not an isolated one. This product should be recalled. And from my research, the people who have experienced this were not given a refund, but were offered a replacement of the same coffeemaker.
Detailed Commentary
I am contacting the FDA regarding my experience with this coffeemaker. If I hadn't been standing in my kitchen when it started to catch on fire, my house could have burned down. I have read many, many other reviews from people who have had the same thing happen to them. I'm new to this site, but I can already tell that it's classy and has an intelligent clientele. Please do your homework on this situation, and be vocal about the danger of the Cuisinart 1200. According to the people who have written about their experiences, Moullnex makes you pay for shipping, and they will only give you a replacement of the same coffeemaker. How foolish is that? Who would ever consider a coffeemaker that could result in a house fire?
