Positive Product Points

Looks cool, and sounds like a good idea to have coffee and espresso drinks "in-one".

Espresso maker worked OK, but that's probably good enough for this price range.

Negative Product Points

Coffee brewed at 186 degrees -NOT HOT ENOUGH-

Waste of good coffee.

Waste of time.

Waste of money.

Cheap build. Chinese plastic.

Absolutely terrible customer service.

Detailed Commentary

I was shopping for just a coffee machine, and somehow got suckered into buying this big plastic beast. It seemed like a good idea, but I quickly learned why everyone says combo machines are bad.

The espresso maker was passable for someone that drinks latte or cappuccino, but without the milk in the drink it was apparent that the machine was not brewing the grind well enough.

The coffee side of the machine is what really turned me off. It made my fresh ground java taste like crap. Bitter crap. I tested the machine's brewing temperature inside of the basket and it only reached 186 degrees. Not hot enough to properly extract the flavor, it was a waste of beans.

I attempted to contact Delonghi's customer service; and just like some other reviewers have stated, the service was terrible. They first argued with me about the temperature, insisting that I did not have the proper equipment to test the brew temperature. Then I was transferred to another Rep and completely lied to with a contradictory story. The second Rep told me that there was safety regulations passed and that the brew temperature was based on the legislation. ALL LIES !!

I looked it up, and there is no regulation on the temperature of residential coffee machines. NONE.

In fact, there are other companies, based in the USA which proudly advertise that their machines brew between 195-205 degrees. Bunn - o - Matic.

I returned the purchase to the retailer because the company was unwilling to help. The retailer took it back, and market the box RTV (return to vendor) because it was considered defective.

I subsequently purchased a Bunn machine, and I am not enjoying coffee that is properly brewed and tastes great.

Buying Experience

Kohl's Dept store was great. They took the machine back with no problems.
