Detailed Commentary

We really like this 12 cup coffeemaker.  Unfortunately, we heard that this product is under a Kitchenaid CPSC recall.  They manufactured 530,000 of these, and a handful have been found to be defective and possibly dangerous.

We are being sent a JavaStudio (Kitchenaid KCM-511) as a replacement.  That is a 10 cup machine, so we went out and ordered the JavaStudio KCM-514, a 14 cup model.  We will report back as to whether this new machine makes as good a cup as the KCM-400.

I felt Kitchenaid should replace the problematic 12 cup machine with one of equal or greater volume.  If I had wanted a 10 cup coffeemaker, I would have purchased a 10 cup machine.  The new 14 cup machine was available on the internet for $100 free shipping.

Buying Experience

all fine
