I do not want to replace this brewer, but also do not want to get burned!
Positive Product Points
Brews hot, delicious coffee.
Negative Product Points
Sputters hot water during and after the brew process which can sometimes result in grounds all over the counter and in the fresh brewed coffee.
Detailed Commentary
Back in Jan 02 I wrote a very positive review of this product, it appeared to be the best drip brewer I had ever owned. For the first year or so I would only use it for guests, or when a full 10 -12 cups were needed. After a year of part time use I started to use the brewer every day, that's when the problems started. The machine started to make a sputtering sound during or after brewing, which sounded like steam being sprayed from the head into the filter holder. This would at times cause hot coffee grounds to be ejected from the filter holder and into the fresh brewed coffee, or onto the counter. A couple of times I had hot steam spray from the machine when the filter holder was opened for disposal of the used filter/coffee, even after several minutes of the completed brew process. If the machine is moved for cleaning of the counter around it, it would sputter even more. I am not going to chance being burned, so have decided to replace it with a different brewer. I have also noticed that KitchedAid does not make this brewer any longer, I wonder if this problem has anything to do with that.
