Don't waste your money on this, since it is annoying to wipe up leaks every time you use it.
Positive Product Points
Makes good coffee, but the fact that the carafes leak every single time you pour a cup makes it almost totally useless. Very poor carafe and lid design. For that kind of money, someone should have figured out how to design a carafe that pours without dripping.
Negative Product Points
Carafe that leaks, leaks, leaks, every time you pour.
Detailed Commentary
I bought this and the companion burr grinder about 5 years ago. I liked the clean lines, substantial feel and ease of use. The very first time I used it, I noticed coffee dripped and leaked from the carafe when I poured. And the rest has been down hill. I contacted Kitchen Aid and suggested this was a design flaw. They suggested that I had received a faulty carafe and graciously sent me a new one (their customer service was terrific). But the new carafe and lid were just as bad as the first. So, given the amount of money I spent, I've kept the machine and used it regularly, but I had to put a tennis headband around the carafe to catch drips if I don't want to constantly wipe them up. Now how silly is that for a $300 coffee maker?
Buying Experience
Bought at Williams Sonoma and had the typically wonderful sales experience that I've always had there.
