Hit and miss on function longevity. Get one that functions properly you will not be sorry
Pour spout can be a bit testy as the hinge hangs up, I trimmed and finally removed leaving the lid only.
If carafe is placed on the warmer with handle pointing to the front you will have a condensation pool at the back, make sure to place with handle on one side or the other so steam can escape off to the side. Some condensation will build on the side, but not annoyingly so
Multiple warmer temp setting, for me Hot setting is TOO hot (personal thought)
Detailed Commentary
After cursing my previous Delonghi I decided to search for a much better drip machine. I have always been a Kitchenaid fan so decided to give the Proline machine a try. This was prior to my learning of the Techivorm. Though I specifically was looking for a 12 cup glass carafe, 10 just would cause me to make another pot in the morning, 12 is just right for my consumption.
It proved very difficult to locate a machine to physically look at here in Atlanta. I finally called KA and asked whom a retailer was for the machine, they steered me to Insperience Studio. This is a retailer that primarily builds and designs full kitchens representing the KA line. They have a small store front of small appliances so I was able to "play with it" for a while. After they matched the best price and included the gold filter I purchased.
The first machine I purchased worked wonderfully, making a great full bodied pot. After a week the LED control panel stopped working. I re-boxed and headed back to the place of purchase. It was exchanged without question, just proof of purchase.
A year later my second machine has been working flawlessly making me happy each morning. After returning the first, I received a follow-up call from the store about a month later asking if I was satisfied with it. Being in sales and customer service industries basically all my life this said allot to me.
I like the simplicity of the machine with the only bell and whistle being the auto-programming, makes life allot easier with the girlfriend going to work a couple hours before me, I just set and forget so she does not have to worry. Fresh ground is always better, but she just needs a jolt quickly and something not the have to deal with
Now with the addition of a Mazzer SJ grinder, OH MY GOODNESS!!! brings new light to a great cup. (don't scrimp on the grinder)
The only complaints I have heard to the omission of the drip stop to "steal" a cup before it is completely brewed. This does not bother me as I prefer the flavor to be throughout the whole pot.
