Expensive. Pot dribbles like a joke cup. Electronic timer/clock failed after 3 months. Makes inferior coffee to cheap Braun auto-drip.
Detailed Commentary
I received this one as a gift several years ago and I was releived when I cracked the carafe last week. Now I can dispose of this junk with a clean conscience.
I was initially impressed with the looks, the water filter and the timer features of this unit. I was quickly dissappointed as it makes inferior coffee (too bitter - overextraction) than cheap auto-drip units. I also found that any minor overfilling of the water chamber - even by 1/2 cup - created a messy puddle on the countertop. The classy looking round pot and matching lid design cause coffee to dribble down the side every time a cup is filled - except the very last cup in the pot. The electronic timer/clock feature failed after 3 months of use. I believe this is due to hot water related humidity build up around the LCD display - a serious design flaw.
The heater plate automatically shots off after 45 minutes. When operating it does keep cooffee at a good drinking temperature and will not scorch or concentraet coffee like so many auto-drips.
I cannot recomment this messy, expensive, flawed coffee maker.
