I like it so much I might buy a spare as production will soon cease in Europe.
Positive Product Points
solid machine, great form and looks terrific in kitchen. real conversation piece and quite rare here.
Negative Product Points
As others have so well reviewed and stated it is a shame there is no automatic turn-off swith. Krups could also be more generous with their 3 sample filter papers. I too made my own without any problem. Cleaning out is messy.
Detailed Commentary
still avalable with various French internet suppliers, but now made in Portugal and sold here only in black. However, on Ebay Germany it is sold in white too. In both countries it is rather expensive compared to the USA prices, but it is worth the money. It is a solid built machine with a unique method of brewing which makes what I call "continental" type coffee - smooth & rich - which filters can never give you. I guess its the high temperature of the water that does it. Its great to watch it function and, as stated, a delight to drink. As its rather rich I think this machine is a supplement to a run of the mill filter model.
Buying Experience
by internet in France. Quick dispatch & well packed.
Three Month Followup
find it working well. its rather fiddly throwing away the used coffee and filter paper beneath.
One Year Followup
apart from Germany you cannot buy a white coloured one now except very rarely through good old EBAY.FR and I'm trying for my second one. I think it is already a classic and continues to make excellent fine, continental tasting, coffee. I hear Pres. Obama includes one on his White House "wish-list".
