inexpensive way to make a good single cup
Positive Product Points
fast and easy method of brewing a single cup. After some modification (see below) you can use paper or gold filter.

Detailed Commentary
The Melitta single cup drip cone is a great way to make a single cup of coffee, easily and convienently. The only problem with the stock cone is the extraction rate is too fast. You must make the hole at the bottom of the cone a bit smaller for slower extraction. A finer ground may also work, but even at espresso grind the extraction was too fast. I took the advice of someone at alt.coffee and melted the plastic around the hole with a lighter. Then took a small screwdriver and molded the melted plastic to make a smaller hole. Much better extraction rate now. I can even use my #2 Swissgold filter if I want. Excellent cup of coffee.
