It's a great machine for a college student, or someone who likes to dump in the coffee creamer and artificial sweetener, but doesn't truely appreciate coffee.
Positive Product Points
This machine is super easy to use. It's nice looking, and it works great.
Negative Product Points
The quality of the coffee... not so good. It's "alright". I would say it's a great machine for a college student, or someone who likes to dump in the coffee creamer and artificial sweetener, but doesn't truely appreciate coffee.
The locking mechanism takes a little getting to know to use it properly, but it's no big deal.
Detailed Commentary
This is actually a review of both the Melitta 1 and 1 as well as the JV BY SALTON POD COFFEE MAKER - JVPM1B. Both machines are manufactured by Salton, the "As seen on TV" people. The JV could be called the Melitta version 2.0. It has a larger water tank and can easily take the Senseo compatable pods. Though its all plastic, the quality is just fine. I've had both for over a year and they work great.
A word of warning, don't try the decaf pods by any of the pod companied; they are horrific. I stick with the medium roast pods, they're pretty good. Dark roast tasts a bit burnt, while the light roast just tastes wattery. The machine makes two sizes of coffee, 4 or 8 ounces. The smaller coffee definitely tastes better ounce for ounce.
