Some other posts indicate poor customer service. I have had excellent customer service. I did have to replace the top once due to a broken latch & I have replaced the filter basket a couple of times. Every time I have contacted them, I have gotten quick effecient service with free shipping even. I don't remember exactly how much I paid for the replacement items, but it was a reasonable charge.
The metal mesh filter basket is difficult to clean - the grounds cake up & won't come off with normal washing. I've had some luck with S.O.S. pads, but I've also torn the mesh of the filter this way too. The part that holds the filter basket comes off & would go in the dishwasher, but when you make a pot or two a day, you rarely want your coffee pot out of commission when the dishwasher is running. Otherwise, this is also hard to clean as some areas are too small to get to.
Other than the more complicated cleaning, I've loved the machine. This was my first experience with fresh ground and I'm sold! Will never go back to buying coffee already ground. The timer is straighforward to set.
