Great for small spaces/occasional use. Not for heavy-duty java fanatics.
Positive Product Points
Simple design eliminates countertop clutter. Larger capacity pot than average maker allows for several large mugs to be filled without making a new pot. Programs make it simple to arrange for coffee the night before -- there's nothing like waking to the sound & smell of beans grinding.
Negative Product Points
Poor design & construction led to product breakage while still within the warranty period. The parts were difficult to clean, and re-assembly takes quite a bit of "jiggling" to get the parts back in place.
Detailed Commentary
Overall, I was disappointed with this coffeemaker. Although it would be okay for occasional use, it didn't stand a chance when faced with serious java junkies such as my husband and me.
The unit itself isn't sturdy, and the plastic parts broke in no time. The spring holder mechanism that holds the grinder to the unit never worked properly, and broke within weeks after purchase. The grinder unit was quite difficult to seat properly, which may have contributed to the parts breaking. Heavy wear items such as the prongs should have been made of something sturdier than plastic.
Now that we have a burr grinder, I find it vastly preferable to the grind method, which is another minus for this coffeemaker.
While this pot would be ideal for the occasional coffee drinker or for a vacation home, I wouldn't recommend it for daily use.
Buying Experience
I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this pot. In spite of its flaws, it's the best of its type on the market.
