Mr. Coffee brand has gone from good to bad, and no longer makes acceptable products.
Positive Product Points
Works perfectly, if you don't mind dripping water down the sides, down the front, or from the bottom. makes great coffee every time.
Negative Product Points
Very leaky; I'm always fighting the opening when the coffeemaker is under the counter. It's best to pull it out to replace the basket. You have to anyway to pour the coffee; both lids lift up, not out.
Detailed Commentary
My Accel Mr. Coffee maker was so fantastic, and lasted for so many years, and made such great coffee, that I wanted another Mr. Coffee right away. I bought one of Wal-mart's most expensive models, making sure to select one that didn't have any features I didn't want. Well, the package didn't say that this one had incontinence. Leaks at the bottom, leaks down the front, leaks when you remove the carafe, leaks when you put it back. Ok, from this experience I have learned to seek out consumer reviews such as found on CoffeeGeek and recommendedelectronics.com. In Louisiana, coffee is a big deal, very rich and robust. Someone said 3 rounded scoops for a full pot of 12 cups. We say 6 rounded scoops for 12 cups. Not kidding. My father-in-law used to put an extra scoop in and say, "Lagniappe!" which means a little extra for free.
