Detailed Commentary
My old Braun died after 15 years. I researched alot of thermal coffeemakers but always found lots of complaints. From information on the forum here, I decided to try Newco.
I have the OCS-12 but the only diff is the carafe is stainless on the outside rather than plastic.
It makes great coffee and keeps it hot for a long time. After 4 hrs it was still hot and after 5 hrs still warm enough to drink. I normally drink it withing 2-3 hours. I've only had it a week but I love it.
I went ahead and ordered the filters from Newco also (it's the same filters Bunn machines use).
It's definitely not a fancy-looking machine (except for the carafe it's just black plastic) but all I care about is good hot coffee. I don't use timers since I grind my beans fresh so I'm glad it doesn't have one (don't need another clock to set).
It's very simple to use too. I like the magnification on the water resevoir and the resevoir markings are accurate. I do wish the carafe poured a little faster.
It's priced at the high end of what I was willing to spend but overall I'm very pleased.
