I bought into the internet hype about this expensive coffee pot and got on Newco's waiting list to order one. Well, it finally arrived and, after one week of use, is going back. The coffee pot is defective and does not produce coffee as hot as advertised.
- Coffee is not that much better than my Braun which was one third the price. - Pouring coffee takes forever. - Lining up the cover to screw it back on to the caraffe take 3 or 4 trys just to get it straight, very frustrating not something to do at 5:30 am. *Brewer is advertised to brew at close to 200 degrees. My testing shows brewing around 165 degrees. Coffee will not stay hot if milk/cream added without microwaving. *Coffee pot has brewed coffee all over my counter and floor multiple times. *Pause and serve feature works intermittently at best. *Coffee pot pops and sputters loud enough to wake the dead at the end of the brewing cycle.
On the whole, I am very disappointed with this coffee pot. Newco has a new Chinese manufacturer of this unit, and it shows. Also, their phone/sales staff is great when you order, but when I called to try and return the unit, they were rude, gave me the runaround, are forcing me to pay shipping back to them for "testing" to determine if they will refund my money, and one person even hung up the phone on me when I questioned these policies. Avoid at all costs. You have been warned.
