Good price, good taste, nicely styled, when used with the best beans, you will be happy.
Positive Product Points
Good coffee taste, cheap to purchase, "Showerhead" water dispersing design, bold and regular flavour selectors, nice to look at, there is a self-cleaning feature (used with vinager), adjustable base heater for the decanter.
Negative Product Points
Wierd system for adding water to the reservoir, there are "2" water filling areas, but really it is just one with a piece of plastic in the middle used as a bridge. Amount of time it takes to brew coffee with the "Bold" flavour selector is obscene, clock is hard to read and confusing to understand.
Detailed Commentary
I used to own a Sunbeam coffee maker (model number not known) purchased from Walmart for under $50. This was the first maker I had ever bought and was surprised at how quickly the quality of the coffee started to detererate. Within the first couple of weeks, the coffee became very sour and literally undrinkable (Sunbeam also makes the Oster brand which I didnt know untill I read the instructions) I purchased this Oster 7986-33 from Costco in Canada for $50 (CAN) and am impressed with its performance for its first week. I generally only drink coffee in the morning, but I will have a mug of it (the equivilant of 4 cups). The coffee is incredibly hot even with the decanter heater on medium and adding chilled cream. Taste isn't of Starbucks quality, but it is certainly better than the old Sunbeam. I couldn't really expect anything better than what this is considering the price.
