Looks good on the kitchen counter - very good coffee too.
Positive Product Points
Makes a very decent cup of coffee (for drip, that is). Looks rather spiffy on the kitchen counter.
Negative Product Points
Quite pricey...but one is paying for looks. Volume of coffee brewed is on the small side: only 5 to 6 cups.
Detailed Commentary
This coffee maker is not your average utilitarian drip machine. It is constructed of black plastic and glass on a tubular chrome frame. The cylindrical glass water reservoir sits at the top of the unit; water volumes are clearly marked on the glass. The carafe is glass. I have no picture of this unit, but I have seen one at www.coffeekid.com .
The water is brought to a near-boil before it is dispensed into the cone filter unit. A very nice pot of coffee results.
My one complaint is that the volume of coffee brewed is rather small: only 5 to 6 cups. Because of this the Cafe Gourmet would be best suited to a household with 1 or 2 coffee drinkers.
The electrical cord detaches at the base of the machine so that the unit can be brought to the table as a warming plate, but I have not attempted this. I prefer to drink my coffee immediately after it has been brewed.
Overall, a nice addition to one's coffee kitchen.
