The quality of the brew is .. shockingly good. I still can't get over how much better it is than our old Krups drip coffeemaker. I was a bit reluctant to pay such a premium price but for a Coffeegeek its well worth it.
Negative Product Points
I don't particularly like how there are all these plastic parts to put in place - the top on the water thing, the cone which has to fit into these little slots, and the top on the cone. It all has the feel of some prototype model. Also there are no cup markers on the glass carafe, something I found handy on our old coffeemaker.
Detailed Commentary
There are already many good reviews of this coffeemaker so I am going to focus on new points. I am a home roaster and drink espresso later in the day but have brewed coffee every morning. For my home roasts with the Krups drip machine I sometimes wondered why I was bothering going through the effort of home roasting, the coffee never had a lot of distinctive flavor. So I relied on espresso to justify the home roasting, you can really taste the difference there. I am very very happy to report that the Technivorm has brought my home roasts to life in drip. I can tell exactly what bean blend I used in the roast because the flavor is all there in the Technivorm. Wow.
