The KBT 741 made hot excellent coffee during its short stay at our home.
Negative Product Points
The thermal caraffe will not sit in the brewer with the thermal top screwed on.
The brewing chamber began to leak after about two months of daily use. It's been gone now for 1 1/2 months.
Detailed Commentary
We purchased our KBT 741 from Sweet Marias based on positive comments (KBTand Sweet Marias) read on this website. The brewer arrived very quickly. For two months we enjoyed the best dripped brewed coffee I had ever tasted. After about two montsh hower it began to leak somewhere below the brewing chamber. We notified Sweet Marias of our leaking brewer. She stated that she was out of stock and notified Boyd's of our problem.
Note: I had not purchased from Boyd's because I had read some negative comments. Now I know that Boyd's is the distributor for all KBTs.
Boyd's was not willing to send me a replacement but wanted to repair it. For $200 I expected to be sent a new replacement immediately. However, Boyd's sent UPS out to pick it up. They told me it would be two weeks to have my repaired or replaced brewer back in hand. That was 1 1/2 months ago. I waited a month and never heard a word. Finally, I expressed my dissatisfaction and contacted Sweet Marias and Boyds. Thats was two weeks ago. Still haven't heard from Sweet Marias. Boyd's said sorry.
Still don't have my coffee maker or my money.
Postscript: (03/05/2007) Maria's has issued a refund on the KBT 741. After forwarding the warranty issues to Boyd's she was left out of the loop. Boyd's did not forward my service complaints nor my request for a refund to Maria's. In addition to the refund she offered a sincere appology. Thank you Sweet Maria's. If only you could have sent me a replacement.
If there were any other distributor for the Technivorm, I would repurchase the KBT 741. I refuse however, to give any more of my money to Boyd's.

Purchasing experince was fine. Service experience has been deplorable.
