This drip coffee machine brews at the right temperature and time.  The temperatures for the critical time 2-5 minutes average 195-204 F degrees.

The ABS plastic parts could have been more substantial.  The carafe shelf could have been attached better. No automatic shutoff.

I decided one month ago to replace my four year old (Philip's HD 7612) thermal carafe brewer with a machine that brews within the right amount of time.  My Philip's brewed hot enough, but the time was a little to long, (7-9 minutes depending on number of cups). The Technivorm meets the correct brew time with the coffee tasting  better than whats brewed in the Philip's.  I have been using Peet's Major Dickason's blend in both machines.  The Tech brews with hardly any noise compared with most drip machines.  I think the aluminum extruded  housing helps with damping noise. The Technivorm came with the nine hole water pipe, but I think the holes should have been drilled more to the end of  the pipe.  The incoming water favors the left side of the brew basket.  The grounds do seem to be infused properly, but I felt the single hole pipe would work slightly better.  I contacted Technivorm and requested information on where to purchase the older single hole pipe.  This company sent a new single hole pipe from Holland to me free of charge!  comparing the brewing process with both water pipes I feel the single hole is slightly better.  The water that I have been using is filtered Brita.  When using this water you need not descale as often.  The starting water temperature does affect the total brewing time.  If you use ice water (35 F degrees) to start, the brewing time will be approximately (5.5 minutes).  With (60 F degrees) water the brew time is 5 minutes.  The incoming hot water temperature is the same in both cases.  When brewing I close the drip control for the first 1.5 minutes and then use the slow drip setting. This method seems to extract the coffee well.  In the one month that I've owned this brewer I'm very pleased.

Sweet Maria's buying experience was excellent!  When I received the brewer I noticed a very slight dent in the carafe, and Sweet Maria's promptly replaced it.  They sent the new one before receiving the damaged one.  Shipping time was good.
