Bottom Line: Seems expensive, but well worth the price.  Excellent coffee brewer with high WAF.  A new coffee experience for this professed coffee addict.
Positive Product Points

Truely an exceptional coffee maker.  Simple to operate.  Thermal jug keeps coffee hot and fresh -- eliminates the wasted burnt/bitter "extras".  High WAF.  Brews full pot quickly.

Negative Product Points

The plastic parts and their tolerences.

Detailed Commentary

I do love this coffee maker.  I can actually taste the coffee now.  Considering what decent roasted beans cost the price of this brewer is reasonable.  I was initially concerned about how I would explain the purchase to the wife, but the WAF (wife acceptance factor) has been very high.  She's an unbiased taster and she agrees the brewer makes far superior cup.  She likes the look too (square MoccaMaster). My only disappointment is the fit of the plastic parts.

In rebuttal to some of the reviews:
1) the round carafe make it difficult to pour the coffee -- without the lid, the review has a point; however, the threaded lid had four grooves spaced at 90 degree angles.  Using a groove to channel the coffee pour creates a perfect pour every time.

2) lid does not fit on carafe while brewing -- this is not a design flaw, why would you want the lid on while brewing?  Entire pot is brewed in 6 minutes with coffee at about 200 degrees Farenheit.  The design of the system ensures that the lid does not obstruct the flow of scalding liquid while offering an air tight seal when the lid is attached.

Buying Experience

This brewer is only carried by a few places in Canada.  Transcend Coffee included shipping and GST in the $299 CDN price.  Since I am in Ontario, the PST was not charged because Transcend is in Edmonton.  This makes it the lowest overall cost in Canada (that I found).  Shipped same day as order and shipping was quick.  I would order this again from Transcend.
