You should read the instructions, as assembly is not intuitive. Also, it is important to pre-warm the carafe, otherwise the coffee is not as warm as it should be.

I am enjoying my first pot of "excellent" coffee. When our old brewer (Cuisinart) passed away last week, I was determined to find a replacement. I discovered CoffeeGeek and was very interested in the praise the Technivorm brewers received. Most of all I was curious if I, a coffee lover...but not afficianado, would be able to tell the difference. The answer is yes!!! I am absolutely shocked by the taste of the coffee. Remember, I am brewing the same coffee as in the Cuisinart, but it tastes like Bistro coffee. Buy this maker...you won't be disappointed. Not to mention the product is handmade and handpacked. Have not seen this level of quality in a long time.
