Big mistake. I regret buying this imperfect machine. A French press or Aerobie produces WAY BETTER coffee and hot too!
Positive Product Points
Pleasing appearance, Carafe maintains heat. Hopefully easy to resell. I have the new model which allows the carafe to fit under the hot water spout properly.
Negative Product Points
Grossly overpriced, coffee is actually made in $3 plastic cone which can be purchased in any supermarket. Inconveniently located on off switch. Does not have an auto turn off. Very limited capacity. Carafe pours very poorly. I have to unscrew the top so that the coffee does not spill all over the table. Coffee taste just O.K. but does NOT compare to French Press or Aerobie Aeropress.
Detailed Commentary
The exorbitant price is unwarranted since the entire coffee making process takes place in a flimsy $3. plastic cone. The cone is not even securely held in place and can easily be accidentally knocked out of place and it will fall on the floor. You can boil water in a pot, pour the water into a plastic cone and not need the Technovirm at all. The carafe design holds heat but has a defectively designed pour spout. I must unscrew the top before pouring to prevent a mess. The lack of an automatic turnoff is another big negative for this coffee maker. Additionally, the water capacity is actually quite limited. I can barely make 2 large mugs of coffee at one time. The crummy plastic cone supplied has three settings on it. It utilizes a very cheap, flimsy spring steel flapper that can have 3 settings. Unfortunately, it is quite easy to accidentally reset the metal tab and you will never know it. All of a sudden, you will have hot coffee running over the top of the cone onto the machine and onto your counter. This machine was NOT well thought out. It is essentially a grossly overpriced IMPERFECT coffee maker.
Buying Experience
Seller was a Technovirm dealer. My first unit was defective and was promptly replaced.
