Do not be swayed by the good looks of this coffee maker. You will be disappointed as was I.
Positive Product Points
This is a very sleek and sexy looking machine that looks fantastic on any countertop. The solid aluminum casting is what drew me to this machine. Filling the reservoir is easy as the opening is about 10" in diameter. The $42.00 price tag was great.
Negative Product Points
It's a rather tall machine and must be moved out from under the cabinets to fill - minor inconvenience. After about 10 pots of mediocre coffee, The little plastic prongs that hold the brew-stop mechanism on the bottom of the basket broke off, rendering this feature useless. It also takes between 15 and 20 minutes to brew a full pot of coffee. The knobs feel cheap and I'm not sure they even do what they say they will.
Detailed Commentary
I had not done any research prior to buying this coffee maker. I generally look for the best deal when buying an item like this so when I saw this on the shelf @ Tuesday Morning, I snatched it up feeling as proud as my cat after catching a ground squirrel. I took it home and ran a couple pots of water through the system to clean out any manufacturing residue. I was disappointed that there was no gold filter that came with it, so I bought one and retrofitted it to the basket. It works well. I have had problems with the basket popping out or falling off when the carafe is removed. It is held in place with a small metal clip that does a poor job of holding it securely. After about 10 pots of coffee, the brew-stop mechanism on the bottom of the basket broke from being under constant pressure from an oversized spring. The replacement parts are not available from the factory so I will have to send it back for a replacement machine. The quality of the cup of coffee is 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 - not great, not awful. Rather than sending this coffee maker back to be replaced, I think it will look nice on the shelf @ Goodwill.
