Detailed Commentary
About a year ago we replaced our Krups carafe brewer with the Zojirushi, after trying some coffee from the Zo owned by my daughter. It was great, and part of the reason was immediately discernable- the coffee produced was HOTTER, and that's because the machine is able to deliver H2O from the sprayhead at higher temperatures. I believe that this is the crucial thing to producing good coffee. After all, the principle of operation of most of these auto drip machines is the same. The cleanup is very nice- we immediately acquired a metal goldtone filter, and after it is dumped, the bowl the filter fits in lifts right off for a trip to the sink for cleaning, along with the sprayhead, which has a twist-lock onto its fixture. Got the Zojirushi Fresh Brew at an outstanding price on sale at Amazon. Would buy it again at the going rate (seems to be available for about $85 at several places) without hesitation. The Technivorm brewer gets somewhat better ratings than the Zo, and also delivers its water very hot....but it's twice the price. We love our good coffee, but not to that extent.
