Makes a great tasting, hot cup of coffee. And plenty of it! It looks good sitting on the counter and is easy to use.
Negative Product Points
The lid, if closed according to instructions, can be difficult to open to the "pour" position but you don't have to close it all the way. It still brews perfectly. Don't know if any coffee maker has this feature but it would be nice if you were able to unplug it and have the clock settings retained.
Detailed Commentary
My last coffee maker was a "freebie" that came with a Gevalia subscription. Don't know who manufactured the unit but it it had a thermal carafe and made approx 42oz. of reaonably hot coffee. Didn't realize how good it was unitl I had to replace it. I found lots of units, some by recognized manufacturers, that were either cheaply made or did not make enough coffee for my wife and I to have our "medically nescessary," 2 cup ea. morning coffee.
Upon finding this website and doing a fair amount of researce, we decided upon the Zojirushi. Glad we did. It's a nicely made unit that brews 1.5 ltrs. of hot (178 degree) coffee. Programming is simple and controls are easy to use. The only issue we found was that securing the lid according to directions for brewing made it difficult to twist back to the "pour" position. I found that tightening the lid only until snug eliminated the problem. The unit is compact for the amount of coffee it makes, seems to be well built and is easy to clean.
Buying Experience
We found the best price, $89.00 with free shipping, on the Target website, which is somehow associated with Amazon. I was able to log in using my amazon info. so it was easy to order. Overall it was a good experience.
