It's a carafe and doesn't cook the coffee.  Saves electricity.  Very easy to use.  SwissGold #4 filters fit perfectly.  Keeps coffee warm for hours.  It says 10 cups, but seems more.  The coffee is hot enough to scorch my tongue after brewing if I'm not careful.

We tried for 3 months to get coffee strong enough, but never managed it.  If we ground the coffee finer, the basket overflowed.  We ended up buying a Krups Moka Brew, but we pour the coffee from the Moka Brew into the Zojiushi carafe.

Need a towel to protect your hands and help with grip when opening the top.   Can't smell the coffee brewing as aroma doesn't escape much.  Good for keeping heat in, but I miss the smell.

I think this is the least expensive coffee maker I have ever purchased and I like it the best.  My Braun goldtone filter was too large, so purchased a SwissGold #4 through Sweet Maria's.   We took it to my sister's vacation home with our home roasted coffee, as I wanted to make sure we a good coffee maker to maximize the flavor.  Very easy to transport.  I am a black coffee sipper. With the Krups machine, the coffee tasted burnt while resting on the warmer. I bought some Nissan Thermos stainless steel leak proof travel mugs and now I have a continuous supply of hot coffee without relying on a coffee maker warmer plate or microwave oven.  Both my husband and are very pleased with this coffee maker.  We don't worry about leaving the coffee maker on when we leave home as the machine turns off immediately after brewing.

We've had this coffeemaker over a month now and we're still pleased.  It got heavy use over last weekend when I made 10 pots of coffee in one day for a party. It performed without problem.  We have a routine that helps the coffee stay hot.  We fill the carafe with cold water and pour into the coffeemaker.  Then we fill the carafe with steaming hot water and let it sit in the sink while grinding the beans and putting them into the filter basket.  The pour the hot water from the carafe into a travel cup to preheat, put the lid on the carafe, place under the basket and push the on button.  It's as simple as that.  This keeps the coffee hot enough to drink for several hours.

This coffee maker would have been fine when we were drinking Starbucks as everything they have is so dark roasted.  But with home roasting, I want the coffee stronger to taste the unique flavors of the different varieties.  I just couldn't get it strong enough with this machine.  See negative points above.
