Detailed Commentary
This little coffee maker could be great if not for the carafe. It makes 4 small or 2 large cups of coffee quickly and easily, and it heats the water to the proper temp. Like most coffee makers with a heated base, it ruins the coffee if you let it sit there for very long, but with a two cuper that's not usually a problem. The carafe has a handle that is attached by a stainless band that surrounds the neck of the glass. The handle that extends down the side of the carafe is not attached at the bottom which means that when you pour the coffee, the stainless band is exerting a lot of force on the glass neck of the carafe. I've had 2 carafes break at this weak spot in a little over a year. At $20.00 each for a replacement, that makes this a much more expensive coffee maker than I thought I was buying. I'm working on my third carafe, and when this one goes, the coffeemaker goes with it.

Three Month Followup
Someone wrote in that the handle was actually attached (glued?) in addition to the metal strap. This is not true. I'm working on the third carafe and none of the handles have been attached in any other way than the metal strap. Fortunately, the last carafe I purchased seems to be made of a thicker glass, and that seems to be responsible for it holding up better than the previous 2.
