- Looks great next to other Ascaso products - All steel construction - Simple layout, easy to adjust via micro adjust wheel on right side of grinder
Negative Product Points
- A bit noisy - Small amount of grinds remain in chute after grinding - A restricting bolt was incorrectly screwed in by Ascaso, limiting how fine a grind I could get. Upon moving it back 1 notch on the flat burr, i was able to get a fine enough grind.
Detailed Commentary
The two grinders I looked at were the Rancilio Rocky and this one.. In the end, went for this one partly to match with the Ascaso Uno we bought, but also because of strong reviews of the product. initially the grind size was limited by a restrictor bolt leading to a too course grind for our espresso machine.. Just could not get anything longer than a 10 second shot. Once I went back to Morala, and they had a look, repositioned the restrictor bolt, and helped me adjust the grind setting, i have been able to get a much better grind size and pull incredible 25-28 second shots. We use the espresso roast from Bridgehead in Ottawa. The grinder goes very well with the Ascaso Uno we have. Would highly recommend this grinder to anyone.
Buying Experience
- Superb service from Morala, and excellent after purchase support to adjust the grind - Very knowledgable staff - Would highly recommend Morala to anyone thinking of getting a higher end espresso machine.
